FUN: Fill Unique Niche Or Fabulous Unique Nut or …?

Fabulous Unique Nut

Find Ur Nature
What is fun?  Think about it.  How do you have fun?  You DO have fun don't you?  Do you do fun things?  Is life itself fun?  Or do you simply go from one SHOULD to another, one task to another, thinking that you will have fun one of these days?
I have an invitation for you:  don't do it if it isn't fun.  Yep.  I have learned that life is too short to do anything that isn't fun.  But your fun is different than my fun.  The key is to figure out what is fun for you.
And so we get to the first invitation when we consider fun:  Figure it out!  Figure Unique Nourishment.

Just like we are invited to contemplate and consider what god means to us, and what our truth is in other areas, we are also invited to figure out what fun is to us.  I think there are different kinds of fun:  peaceful fun, quiet fun, boisterous fun, busy fun.  For me, fun is seeing people live lives of joy and peace.  For me, fun is being able to do what I love for a living.  For me, fun is playing with horses, including shoveling horse shit. I even have fun helping people move! For me, fun is a flexible schedule...which also means a....ahem...flexible income.  Some people don’t think that is fun.  The point is you get to decide what is fun in your life.  Figure it out.  And, here is a bonus hint:  fun, like other things in life, is not about doing.  It is about being.
Roger Teel speaks to this in his book This Life is Joy.  He says there is a fountain of joy within us, and that the secret to power is hidden in this joy.  And I think that if we can access this joy within, then everything we do and everything we be can be fun.
No matter what our spiritual beliefs are, we are promised fun in life:
From Isaiah 55:12 in the bible:  “For you shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.”
From the Sanskrit tradition:   “Thou art God, and God enjoys being God!”
I don't know about you, but sometimes I forget to have fun.  I forget myself.  I forget that I am a unique expression of god, and that god just wants to have fun, that's why I'm here.
And so we come to another invitation:
Fill Unique Niche
In reminding ourselves to have fun, we not only need to Figure Unique Nourishment, but we need to Fill Unique other words, discover our truth and live it.
How many of you are thinking that doesn't sound like very much fun?  Stick with me here.
I know it all seems very serious.  Even Ernest Holmes talked a lot about fundamentals.  He also talks about function and funerals.   Hardly any fun.  Apparently very serious.  And yet, I know he had his fun moments.  He said this:
"I believe in a religion of happiness and joy. There is too much depression and sorrow in the world. These things were never meant to be and have no real place in the world of reality. Religion should be like the morning sun sending forth its rays of light; it should be like the falling dew covering the land with fragrance and sweetness; like the cool of evening and repose of night. It should be a spontaneous song of joy and not a funeral dirge. From the fullness of a joyous heart the mouth should speak."
From all the readings, all the wisdom, all the research, the key to having fun in life points to the same thing:  it comes from within.  It is not about all the fun stuff we do.  It's about the the fun we bring to what we are doing.  It is about the fun that we are.  Are you fun?  Do you have fun no matter what?  Or is life so heavy does it that fun seems like an unreachable thing? I once knew a man who claimed he did not know how to have fun.  He denied that part of himself, and he fulfilled his own prophecy:  he never had fun and he ended up dying of alcohol and drug addiction.
I also know a lot of people who insist on having fun in life.  And they do.  I know a minister who is well known for saying “Yippee Doo!”  People who insist on having fun in life, they show up as fun.  They bring the fun with them, no matter what.  I have a neighbor and I love living next door to her, because she expresses her fun loudly:  every day I hear her laugh out loud, and give loud exclamations of funness.  Her husband told me he was first attracted to her because she was so positive about everything and insisted on having fun.  I’m attracted to that as well. And me....well, I’m known for my woogies.  People ask me what that means.  I respond, “try to say it without smiling.” That’s fun.  At least it is to me.
The world is full of wisdom about how to have fun.
Ernest Holmes says, in Creative Mind: "BE ALIVE. There is no place in the New Order for "dead ones." The true metaphysician is alive to all that is useful. Filling his place in the events of the human race, he takes part in all its labor and in all its fun. Pessimism must be relegated to the scrap heap. There is no place among the living for the dead. Let the dead bury their dead. Do not hesitate to enter into the game of life, but do so with a zest and an enthusiasm that over-flows with life."
Pessimism must be relegated to the scrap heap.  Easier said than done sometimes, but totally necessary.  Don't say negative things, don't think them, don't act them.  Keep your eye on the prize of fun!
Roger Teel quotes Esther Hicks in his book “This Life is Joy”: "Life is supposed to be fun. No one is taking score of any kind, and if you will stop taking score so much, you will feel a whole lot better—and as you feel a whole lot better, more of the things that you want right now will flow to you. You will never be in a place where all of the things that you are wanting will be satisfied right now, or then you could be complete—and you never could be. You are right on track, right on schedule. Everything is unfolding perfectly. All is really well. Have fun. Have fun. Have fun!"
What is your fun?
