Expectations are NOT premeditated resentments!

I am a huge believer in the Law of Attraction.  This Law says basicallly that we attract what we put out there.  Like other Laws, this Law is no respecter of what we do, or what color we are, or any other outside appearances.  It doesn't say we attract what we wish for, or even what we affirm.  What it really does is bring to us in accordance with our beliefs.  And expectations, like thoughts and feelings and emotions, are very much based in our beliefs.

Some like to say that expectations are premeditated resentments.  Those who subscribe to this tend to lower their expectations so they don't get upset about things.

I've never believed in that.  I'm more like the little kid who, faced with a room full of horse shit, said, "with all this horse shit, there's got to be a pony somewhere!"

I look for rainbows when it rains at the same time the sun is shining.  I see the good in everything, even the things others consider disasters.

I expect good in my life.  Period.

And I get it.

Because I have a belief that life is basically good.

You may be saying something like, "well, that's easy for YOU to say!  You haven't lost  your job, YOU aren't going through a divorce, YOU don't have cancer!   YOU didn't have the childhood I had!  I simply won't belief that life is good when all this bad stuff has happened to me!"

I'm not saying bad stuff doesn't happen.  It has happened to me, many times.  What I'm saying is that there is good in everything, and in my expectation of good, I always, sooner or later, come out of a seemingly bad situation being able to recognize and experience the good.

Do you always see the good?  Are  you one of those people that is considered an optimist?  You see the glass as half full?  Or do you relate more to the pessimist side, and see the glass as half empty?  Or perhaps you consider yourself more of a realist, and simply drink the water in the glass?  How's that working for you?  Is it time for a change?  It may be, if there are aspects of  your life that aren't working.  And if there are aspects of your life that aren't working, the thing to change first is your beliefs.  The rest will follow, because that is the way the Law works.

This is what I love to do in my counseling practice:  help people change their beliefs so that they have lives that work....and work well.

If you have an area of your life that isn't working, give me a call.  I'd love to hear about it and explore some different options with you.  I have offices in Carson City and Lake Tahoe, as well as availability VIA phone, Facetime or Skype.

In the  meantime, I expect the highest good for you!
